We are committed to re-investing the skills and talents of our staff back into the local community. We encourage staff to contribute their time and abilities to local organisations and a number of our people are heavily involved in local sports clubs. This includes coaching and administration in a range of cross-community activities, including soccer, GAA and cycling.
We also support charities in Ireland and the UK and frequently run fund raising events throughout the year. In 2014, our nominated charities were Macmillan Cancer Support, Action Medical Research and St Vincent De Paul in Ireland for whom we raised over £4500.
Our nominated charities for 2015 include Cancer Research UK, St Vincent De Paul for RoI and Autism NI as our local Newry office charity.
We are sympathetic to requests for time off to assist in these activities and our company sponsors competitions where it believes the aims of the particular organisations involved have a direct impact on the quality of life in the community. In particular, the development of young people and their attainment of skills and qualifications is something our company seeks to consistently encourage.
HBE have run an apprenticeship programme for Graduate Building Surveyors to join our Asbestos surveying team and have in 2013 provided employment for 10 graduates. This scheme reopened in 2014 for graduates in the Dublin area.
